Reissue Amphitheater sits mid-pack for shade among Atlanta's open-air rooms, our model puts a typical 7 PM show at about 69 percent shade overall. That is enough that the covered seats stay comfortable while the open lawn works for its view.

Pit and lower pavilion stay shaded

The deepest shade is down front and under cover. Pit 1 and Pit 2, along with pavilion sections 102, 103, 104 and 105, all read around 81 percent shaded across the event. Those seats spend little of the show in the sun.

The lawn and the far pavilion catch more light. Lawn 7, 8 and 9 sit around 50 to 54 percent shade, and pavilion 111 is similar near 57 percent. A lawn ticket here means open sky and a low sun early, then relief as the evening turns.

When the glare lifts

Atlanta holds a fairly long summer evening: in high summer the sun sets around 8:48 PM. A 7 PM show therefore starts in daylight, the sun low at roughly 19 to 20 degrees up and bearing west-northwest. That sideways light across the open seats is why the from-6 PM shade figure, near 45 percent, runs below the full-event average.

The trend is your friend. As the sun sinks it pulls off the seating, and once it sets the whole amphitheater is shaded. The later stretch of any show is the easy one. Atlanta summers carry heat and humidity, so bring water and sun cover for the opening set regardless of section.
