Vitoria-Gasteiz runs cooler than most of Spain, and Mendizorroza benefits from it, July afternoons here top out around 78°F, a world away from the mid-90s of Madrid or Seville. But the Alavés home ground has its own quirks: an unusual east-southeast orientation and an evening shade number that is weaker than you would expect, because the Basque sun stays up late and stays surprisingly high.
