Arsenal's home in north London holds 60,704 people, and on a bright July afternoon roughly a third of them are sitting in shade at any given moment. The practical upshot: seats that face north or east lose the sun first, while anything looking west catches that low evening glare longest. London's summer is forgiving, July afternoons average 76°F, so this is more about glare and comfort than survival.

The shadiest and sunniest sections

The engine's numbers are clear about where to sit. The most protected seats at Emirates Stadium are on the club level, where sections 207 through 212 each hold 50% shade across an afternoon match, the overhang above them does steady work while the sun is high. The lower bowl is the trade-off zone: sections 120 and 116 come in at 28% shaded, section 130 at 27%, and section 129 at just 24%. Those are fine seats for football and poor seats for avoiding sun; bring sunglasses and don't expect relief until the second half is well along.

Afternoon kickoff or evening kickoff

The single biggest lever isn't your section. It's the start time. Across the same seats, shade at the Emirates jumps from 36% during an afternoon match to 65% after 6 PM. A midweek evening fixture is simply a cooler, dimmer experience: the sun is low, most of the bowl has fallen into shadow, and only the west-facing seats still deal with glare before the 9:11 PM sunset ends the question entirely.

September and October fixtures are gentler still, with the sun lower all day and London highs falling off quickly after summer.
